SONOCRAFT Launches Next-Gen Bioprinting for Heart Tissue
The SONOCRAFT project officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting attended by all consortium partners. Held virtually and hosted by the coordinating team, the meeting marked the beginning of an ambitious European collaborative effort aimed at advancing the frontier of biofabrication and regenerative medicine.
Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, SONOCRAFT brings together a highly interdisciplinary consortium composed of experts in biomedical engineering, molecular biology, biomaterials, software development, and clinical sciences. The project focuses on the development of innovative bioprinting technologies that combine volumetric 3D printing with ultrasonic manipulation to fabricate functional myocardial tissue constructs—a groundbreaking approach with the potential to transform cardiovascular research and treatment.
During the kick-off meeting, partners presented their respective roles and expertise, discussing how their contributions would be integrated into a cohesive and effective project strategy. A key focus of the meeting was on establishing strong alignment between the scientific and technical work packages, ensuring that collaborative actions are well-coordinated to meet project milestones and deliverables.
