Accelerating Development: SONOCRAFT Team Reviews Core Components

On 26 June 2025, the SONOCRAFT consortium held a focused project meeting to advance both the scientific and managerial aspects of the initiative. The discussion concentrated on several core technical areas, including:

  • Development and refinement of biological inks

  • Optimization of nozzle design for bioprinting applications

  • Progress in simulation models

  • Strategies for multi-material printing

In addition to the technical focus, partners also discussed essential aspects of project management and dissemination planning, ensuring that scientific progress is aligned with SONOCRAFT’s communication goals and overall impact strategy.

These collaborative meetings play a vital role in maintaining momentum and ensuring seamless integration across the project's interdisciplinary work packages.

Strengthening Collaboration: SONOCRAFT’s First Internal Coordination Meeting

On 29 May 2025, the SONOCRAFT consortium held its first internal coordination meeting since the project kick-off. This important gathering brought together all project partners to align on the pace of work, clarify immediate priorities, and refine collaborative strategies to ensure timely delivery of all milestones and deliverables.

The meeting fostered valuable discussions on technical coordination, integration of interdisciplinary expertise, and maximizing scientific and societal impact. It also served as a key step in reinforcing the collaborative spirit across the consortium as we move into the next phase of the project.

Together, we are driving innovation in volumetric 3D bioprinting and ultrasonic tissue engineering, aiming to develop groundbreaking solutions for myocardial repair.

SONOCRAFT Launches Next-Gen Bioprinting for Heart Tissue

The SONOCRAFT project officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting attended by all consortium partners. Held virtually and hosted by the coordinating team, the meeting marked the beginning of an ambitious European collaborative effort aimed at advancing the frontier of biofabrication and regenerative medicine.

Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, SONOCRAFT brings together a highly interdisciplinary consortium composed of experts in biomedical engineering, molecular biology, biomaterials, software development, and clinical sciences. The project focuses on the development of innovative bioprinting technologies that combine volumetric 3D printing with ultrasonic manipulation to fabricate functional myocardial tissue constructs—a groundbreaking approach with the potential to transform cardiovascular research and treatment.

During the kick-off meeting, partners presented their respective roles and expertise, discussing how their contributions would be integrated into a cohesive and effective project strategy. A key focus of the meeting was on establishing strong alignment between the scientific and technical work packages, ensuring that collaborative actions are well-coordinated to meet project milestones and deliverables.
